Counselling
At Rainbow Forest Centre, we offer evidence-based therapies in Japanese to support emotional well-being and personal growth. Sessions are designed to help individuals better understand themselves and navigate emotional difficulties in a safe, respectful, and culturally sensitive space.
You can choose a therapeutic approach that suits you, or we can recommend one based on your needs and goals.
Cognitive behavioral therapy
CBT is one of the most well-established forms of psychotherapy and is effective for a wide range of emotional concerns, including depression, anxiety, and irritability. It focuses on understanding the links between thoughts, feelings, and behaviours, and developing practical strategies to manage them.
CBT is known for its long-term preventative effects and can also be used alongside medication.
Dialectical behavior therapy
DBT is particularly effective for people who experience emotional instability, intense interpersonal conflict, or impulsive behaviours such as self-harm or outbursts. Therapy focuses on emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and relationship-building.
We work together to explore ways to manage intense emotions, observe internal experiences, and establish more stable, healthy relationships.
EMDR
EMDR is an evidence-based therapy for trauma and distressing life experiences. It is considered as effective as medication for some forms of trauma.
Using a structured process involving eye movements or tapping, EMDR helps reduce the emotional intensity of past memories in a non-invasive and gentle way.
Interpersonal therapy
IPT is a time-limited, structured therapy that focuses on your current relationships—particularly with those most important to you. It is effective for individuals experiencing depression or eating-related difficulties, helping to improve emotional stability by strengthening interpersonal connections.
ASD/ADHD Assessment (Japanese)
We offer informal psychological assessments in Japanese to support adults who wish to better understand themselves, their neurodevelopmental traits, or to gain insight into family or interpersonal challenges.
These assessments are not formal medical diagnoses under UK systems, but they can be a helpful tool for self-reflection, personal growth, and communication with family or employers.
Assessments are conducted by staff with Japanese professional qualifications and follow Japanese clinical standards.
Assessments may explore traits related to:
-
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
-
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
-
Other Neurodevelopmental Profiles
-
Cognitive functioning including the formal IQ
-
Emotional regulation and behavioural tendencies
The specific tools used are selected based on each person's individual needs and presenting concerns.
To gain a full picture of your developmental background, you may be asked to provide:
-
Old school report cards, essays, or classwork
-
Input from a parent or family member, if available
-
A personal reflection on your childhood experiences
Initial
Interview
(50 minutes)
In the initial interview, we will ask about the purpose of the assessment, the progress so far, the necessary psychological assessment, and the information that we should know when conducting the assessment.
We will propose the necessary assessments after the initial interview.
Assessment
There are three types of assessments: questionnaire format, interview format, and face-to-face inspection.
If you use the questionnaire format, please fill it out at home.
In the case of face-to-face, it takes about 1 to 2 hours for each type of examination, and about 1 to 3 hours for the interview format.
It will take about an hour to inspect the hearing from family members.
(Assessment
Report)
After the assessment is completed, the center will scored the results and create a report.
It takes about 2 weeks for this work.
If you would like an English test result report, it will take about an additional week.
Feedback
(50 minutes)
You can explain the test results online or face-to-face.
When telling the diagnosis name, we also add explanations about the diagnosis name.
